Rome, September 21–23, 2025
The RBS is offering its annual three-day “Seminar on Biblical and Semitic Rhetorical Analysis,” running from Monday, September 21, to Wednesday, September 23. These sessions will serve as a prelude to the 10th International Conference, scheduled for September 24–26.
Program
The seminar will be held at the Pontifical Gregorian University (at the Collegium Maximum) in Rome.
The program will consist primarily of biblical text analysis and, of course, discussions on methodology, with some lectures as needed. The schedule will therefore include:
- time for individual study,
- time for discussion among participants, in groups of two or three,
- followed by discussion with the professor.
You should therefore expect a maximum of eight hours of work per day.

Guide
The seminar will be led by Prof. Francesco Graziano, Secretary of the Association and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biblical Theology at the University.
Terms and Conditions
It is certainly desirable to know the biblical languages, Hebrew and Greek. However, it is by no means essential. If necessary, we can work with literal translations.

Validate
For students pursuing a licentiate degree in the Department of Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, participation in the seminar may be counted toward their academic curriculum.
You must complete the RBS registration form, as well as the validation form for credit recognition, which can be signed at the beginning of the seminar. For those who wish to have their participation in the seminar validated by the Department of Biblical Theology, it will still be necessary to register for the university, as with other seminars, at the beginning of the first semester of 2026–2027, and to register for the February (or June) 2027 exam session.
Students from other universities or institutions should consult with their academic authorities regarding the possibility of course credit, preferably before the seminar begins.
The requirements for course credit are: first and foremost, active participation in all seminar sessions, as well as the preparation of a report on the seminar’s proceedings or a rhetorical analysis of a biblical text, in consultation with the professor in charge of the seminar.
