Eleventh Learning Seminar of Biblical and Semitic Rhetorical Analysis

Rome, 23-25 September 2024

RBS is offering a three-day Learning Seminar of Biblical Rhetorical Analysis from Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 September.

Programme

The Seminar will be held at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. There is, however, the possibility of opening a distance channel in English (Zoom), for those interested, during the same period.

The programme will primarily consist of analyses of biblical texts and of course exchanges on methodology, with some lectures as needed. Therefore, there will be:

1. a time for personal work

2. a time of exchanges between participants, in groups of two or three,

3. then sharing with the professor.

A maximum of eight hours of work per day should therefore be counted.

Guides

Professor Francesco Graziano will lead the seminar in presence, while for the online English module, Professor Bernard Witek.

Conditions

It is more than desirable to know the biblical languages, Hebrew and Greek. However, it is not absolutely essential. One can work, if necessary, on literally translated texts.

Registrations are accepted until 1st September 2024.

Validation

For Licence students of the Department of Biblical Theology of the Pontifical Gregorian University, participation in the seminar can be validated as a seminar for their curriculum.

It is necessary to fill in the RBS registration form, as well as to fill in the validation form, which can be collected from the guide at the beginning of the seminar and handed in, obligatorily, within the week of the seminar. For those who would like their participation in the seminar to be validated by the Department of Biblical Theology, it will still be necessary to register as for the other seminars at the beginning of the first semester 2024-2025, just as it will be necessary to register for the February (or June) 2025 examination session.

For students from other Universities or Institutes, in view of the possibility of validation, it will be necessary to make an agreement with the Academic Authority to which they belong, preferably before the seminar begins.

The conditions for validation are: firstly, active participation in all the seminar sessions, as well as the writing of a report on the seminar proceedings or the rhetorical analysis of a biblical text, in agreement with the seminar guide.
